Go big or go home! Understanding Employees Are Keyīefore I show you her reaction to the ride, let me share a sweet story that happened. I asked her what she wanted to ride first and she said “A lot of rides” LOL. We ran into Ghost Town and measured her at Ghost Rider! Sure enough she was good to go! I was probably more excited than she was. You can bet the we drove to Knott’s first thing in the morning the next day to double-check the measurement. Well guess what? It finally happened last week!!!! My husband measured her with a tape measure and she was exactly 48 inches. Unfortunately she was just shy of 48 inches so I have been taking my friends’ kids on instead while we wait for that magical day.

(We got to ride it 4 times in a row without getting off one day as they were filming a promo). Being a Berry Blogger definitely has its perks and I wanted so badly for her to experience the thrill of riding HangTime last year when it opened. The boys love roller coasters and I have been waiting patiently for my daughter to grow so she can ride the BIG roller coasters with me at Knott’s. I have two teenage sons and an 8-year-old daughter now. I ran to my mom and she gave me the biggest hug in the world! After that I became an adrenaline junkie and I am still one to this day!įast Forward to 30 years later. It was an exhilarating ride it and I remember smiling so big and being proud of myself after I got. I still remember the sound of the chain lift and the way the padded shoulder harness felt. I remember standing in line and staring at the big blue helix track thinking “I can totally do this” and “That looks like so much fun”! I was filled with anticipation, nervousness and excitement all at the same time. She was not the adventurous type so she kindly asked a stranger in line if they would ride with me. I was about 10 years old and I remember begging my mom to take me on it. For me it was Corkscrew at Knott’s Berry Farm. GhostRider is now open at Knott’s Berry Farm.Do you remember the first BIG roller coaster you ever rode? I bet you can remember every detail down to the color of the track. With this major enhancement, the appeal of the ride will broaden beyond coaster enthusiasts. The invigorating rush you experience when you ride GhostRider is one that will remain in your heart long after the ride has ended. With a rich California history and the feel of exhilaration of the Old West, GhostRider encompasses the heritage that Knott’s is always striving to recreate for guests. While deemed an intermediate roller coaster, for many kids it will be their first. The overall experience of the ride mirrors the original, yet it is noticeably smoother and more comfortable to ride.Īs a hallmark of both Ghost Town and the park, GhostRider is one of the only rides that has stayed just as it was when it opened. GhostRider opened in 1998, and while the ride undergoes routine maintenance to replace the wood and any necessary parts, this is the most expansive enhancement to date. The result is a continuous 2 minute thrill ride complete with a 108 foot drop, hair-raising twists and turns, and enough g-force to feel like you’re defying gravity. This year, Ghost Town celebrates its 75th anniversary, and in honor of the occasion, GhostRider has 4,533 feet of brand new track, re-profiled banks and curves, and 3 new “ore car” coaster trains. The cave that welcomes guests to the ride was once part of the park’s Pan for Gold attraction, a reminder that we must look to the past in order to move forward.

With a nod back to the Old West, the ride takes guests into a mysterious mine where they are strapped into mining cars and sent along an exhilarating journey. Knott built and modeled the area after ghost towns across the West, including the former mining town Calico in San Bernardino, California. A visit to the Old School House, the Calico Saloon, or any spot within the town will take you back to 1800s.Įven before you step foot inside Knott’s Berry Farm, you can’t help but take note of the West’s longest, tallest, wooden roller coaster, GhostRider. Much of Knott’s Berry Farm’s history can be discovered in Ghost Town, a themed area originated by Walter Knott himself. I attended a media event which facilitated the writing of this post.
